I'm going for female great spotted. The post-auricular stripe is broken, but only slightly. The saturated red vent looks good for GSW, as do the white outer tail feathers. I could be wrong, but the bird for me has the 'feel' of a GSW.
That's right... only the broken post-auricuar stripe is the issue. I would say it is first-winter bird. Not unusual for first winter GSWs to have this feature.
