    Hi Gerard! First of all thank you for arranging us the guide; we had a great time in Hortobagy...and great birds of course!
    As for the woodpecker I'd say White-backed: reddish crown, no black rim above the eye (as seen on Syrian, Great Spot), some clean black streaking on the breast. Also quite longish and slim head and bill.
