I'm not really sure between Syrian and Great Spotted Woodpecker. I exclude White-backed because I don't see any streaking on the breast. But I would say Syrian Woodpecker. The vent seems more pale red and I can see a little bit of streaking near the red. Maybe I'm wrong...
Hi Domen, It is a Syrian Woodpecker. The key factor for me on this shot are the outer tail feathers. They show very little white. On a Great Spotted Woodpecker there would be much more white in the outer tail feathers.
Next up... another flight view of a European woodpecker species. Which is it ? And why ?
